I called him to buy a belt. He narrowly escaped people who are called "short". He approached where I was standing with the intuitive market eyes of a typical Igbo man. Smacking the belts one after the other against themselves, he did the usual verbal acrobatics of a classic Onisha main market seller.
He was convincing me to buy a PU belt but a higher grade for 2000 thousand naira. I bargained 1000 but he begged me to pay 1500, I insisted on my 1k, he later asked me to top anything from the pool of my conscience.
I removed my wallet, then it struck me, I asked for his state of origin, he told me it was Ebonyi. I grimaced and told him I am from Enugwu state. I then mocked him saying "Shebi na una dey mumu unasf dey shout
Biafra upandan?" his countenance changed to anger but he controlled it. He replied, "Oga, how u go be Igbo com dey hate Biafra? Oga e no make sense" He told me that he is a proud
IPOB dude and that he is not ashamed of who he is, he then added that people should be ashamed of themselves whenever they are addressed as nigerians. He told me that whether I loved it or not, that Biafra must stand.
Now, what impressed me was that this dude didnt care if I still buy or not, in fact he didn't even want me to buy again.
While he was still explaining to me with love why I should believe in Biafra, I opened my wallet and handed him 2500naira, he asked me if I wanted to buy two, I told him no. I let him no my stand as a hardcore also.words can't quantify the joy his face showed me not because of the money but because he found his brother.
I wished him good luck and went away with my belt.
We are Biafrans.
